“Riham’s class “The elements of writing fiction” is one of the best writing classes I took. In it you don't only get to learn the elements, but you get to practice them and give and receive feedback all the time. I have learned so much from the class. I would recommend it for anybody who wants to transition from an amateur writer to somebody who can persuade writing on a more professional level”

Sometimes our life stories might seem like a conspicuous puzzle we can’t put together, or perhaps a riddle we can’t solve. You might struggle with self-expression, feelings of low self- worth, and issues that impact your physical and mental well-being. You try so hard to put it all on the back burner but eventually you can't because it’s too exhausting. Repression is exhausting. This workshop will help you use the fluid and innovative medium of flash fiction—stories fewer than 1000 words— with its different forms and techniques to explore what lurks in the shadow of the subconscious and delve into the riddle-like world of dream symbols. archetypes. Transformation and healing may be generated by illuminating the conflicts hidden deep within our psyches through writing.
Have you ever woken up from a dream, out of breath, perplexed, feeling that mix of fear and wonder? Have you ever thought of incorporating images you see in your dreams in stories but fail to identify any clear meanings or associations to those ambiguous and surreal dreams? Are those dreams trying to tell us something? Perhaps tell a story? Our story? A story that needs a good think and some subconscious re-wiring? Don’t the characters we create in stories go through the same thing? Dream symbols, Dream archetypes, Surreal paintings, and fairy tales will be some of the things we’ll explore in this workshop, all of which we’ll learn how to use to craft an exceptional narrative voice in unusual stories with deeper meaning.
Setting is Character. Setting moves. Setting has a voice and it tells stories. In this week-ender workshop explore the ekphrastic and surreal aspects of certain landmarks in Egypt and the incredible history they lived. We’ll practice making our setting speak, letting it have its own perspective and its own say in telling our stories. A fresh and exciting approach to storytelling.
